  • Common marine life: reef fish, butterflyfish, angelfish, parrotfish, wrasse, rabbitfish, damselfish, fusiliers, snappers, groupers, moray eels, blue-spotted rays and anemonefish, trevally, barracuda and triggerfish
  • Special sightings: whale sharks, turtles, Jenkins rays, cobia, sea snakes and cuttlefish
  • Macro life: moderate
  • Bigger fish: yes by Koh Tao standards

  • Wreck penetration: No, unless this is a wreck-specific page. For HTMS Sattakut only, penetration requires proper wreck training, equipment and supervision.

Local Advice

Shark Island can be colourful and full of fish in the right conditions, but current and exposure are part of the site. It is not a calm sandy training dive.
