HTMS Sattakut Wreck Koh Tao – Complete Dive Guide
The HTMS Sattakut Wreck is one of the most exciting dive sites in Koh Tao and a favourite for divers looking to experience wreck diving in Thailand. This former Thai Navy vessel was intentionally sunk in 2011 to create an artificial reef and dive attraction.
Today, the wreck sits upright on the seabed and is covered in marine life, offering a unique combination of structure, history and underwater exploration.

Marine Life at the Sattakut Wreck
The wreck has become an artificial reef, attracting a wide range of marine life. You can expect to see barracuda, groupers, snappers and schools of fusiliers surrounding the structure.
Inside and around the wreck, divers often spot moray eels, lionfish and nudibranchs, while the surrounding sandy bottom is home to rays and other bottom-dwelling species.

Can You Go Inside the Wreck?
The Sattakut Wreck has several entry points, allowing divers to explore inside sections of the ship. However, penetration should only be done by trained divers with proper wreck diving certification.
For those without wreck training, the exterior of the ship still offers an incredible dive experience with plenty to see.
Who Is This Dive Suitable For?
This dive site is best suited for Advanced Open Water divers due to its depth. It is also commonly used for Advanced courses and wreck specialty training.
Less experienced divers may still be able to visit the shallower parts of the wreck with an instructor, depending on conditions.
