Prerequisites
- Age: 18+ and medically fit to dive (doctor’s clearance within the last 12 months).
- Certifications: Rescue Diver (or equivalent) + current CPR/First Aid (e.g., EFR within 24 months).
- Logged dives: 40 to start; 60 to certify.
How long does it take?
- Accelerated: ~2–3 weeks full-time (intensive, great if you’re on a tighter schedule).
- Standard: 4–6+ weeks (more time assisting classes, guiding, and refining skills).
- Internship: 2–3 months (deep experience across seasons, boats, and student types).
What you’ll do
- Watermanship & stamina: timed swims/snorkel, tow and float assessments.
- Skill mastery: demonstrate the full set of core scuba skills to a “demonstration quality” standard.
- Workshops: dive site setup, briefings, mapping project, search & recovery, deep dive supervision.
- Assisting: support instructors on Open Water, Advanced and Rescue courses.
- Theory: physics, physiology, equipment, environment, and the PADI system & standards.
Typical schedule snapshot
- Mornings: classroom/theory, workshops, or assisting pool sessions.
- Afternoons: boat dives for guiding practice, mapping and assessments.
- Plus: rescue refreshers, emergency planning and supervised leadership exercises.
Equipment & what’s included
- Included: mentor-led workshops, boat dives during training, use of tanks & weights.
- Recommended personal kit: dive computer, SMB + reel, cutting device, whistle, torch; owning a well-fitting mask/fins is a big plus for pros.
Fees & materials
- Divemaster course fee: 30,000 THB (training). Local rates may change—confirm when booking.
- PADI Divemaster Crew-Pak & eMaterials: purchased separately (set by PADI; price varies by region).
- PADI Divemaster membership application fee: paid to PADI on certification (varies by region/currency and may change yearly).
